Nursery School Day

We understand that parents have busy lives and the nursery is open from 8.00am until 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Day is structured into two halves:

  • Morning session – 8:00 – 12:30
  • Afternoon session – 13:00 – 17:30

We recognise that routines are important for young children and they are a source of learning which is just as important as their exploration of play materials. They help the children settle quickly into the nursery environment and feel safe and secure.  The wellbeing of your child is of paramount importance to us.

Nappies are checked and changed regularly as part of the daily routine and details recorded in day books.  Branded nappies and creams are provided and we are happy to discuss any specific requirements for your child.

The nursery day at OIS is structured to include free flow and focused activities. These are designed to prepare your child for school life.

The purpose of free flow activities is to support and encourage children to make their own choices and to be independent learners. Children learn best when they are given autonomy to make choices.

Focused activities are planned activities to meet children’s individual developmental needs. These activities are planned across all seven areas of learning within the EYFS and take place both inside and outside.

Our son ADORES this nursery. The staff are beyond wonderful. They tailor the learning within the setting to cater for the passions of the children – knowing how much my son loved using the school camera they set a lovely task to take Autumn photos, and when he was obsessed with Super Heros they ended up all making a ‘Super Hero Training Course’!
